Crosby S-421T Terminator™ Wedge Socket – Safer, More Efficient Wire Rope Termination
The Crosby S-421T Terminator™ Wedge Socket is a premium wire rope end fitting designed to deliver safer, more reliable terminations compared to traditional wedge sockets. Featuring Crosby’s patented Terminator wedge design, this system secures both the live and dead ends of the wire rope—eliminating common failure points like tail breakage and wedge loss.
Engineered for heavy-duty lifting and rigging applications, the S-421T combines proven Crosby durability with enhanced safety features like the QUIC-CHECK® system for quick, visual rope size verification. Whether you're working in construction, oil & gas, marine, or general industrial lifting, this wedge socket provides dependable performance with simplified installation.
Each assembly includes the socket body, Terminator wedge, round pin, and Crosby Red U-Bolt® wire rope clip. Bolt, nut, and cotter pin versions (S-421TB) are available as special order.
Key Features Terminator™ Wedge Design: Secures the dead end of the rope, eliminating wedge slippage and tail fatigue failure
QUIC-CHECK® System: Built-in “Go” and “No-Go” holes ensure proper rope size selection
No Extra Rope Required: Eliminates the need for additional tail length
Cast Steel Basket: Individually magnetic particle inspected for quality assurance
Versatile Compatibility: Works with closed swage and spelter sockets
Easy Installation: Simple assembly with standard Crosby Red U-Bolt® wire rope clip
Retrofit Capability: Standard S-421 sockets (3/8"–1-1/8") can be upgraded to Terminator wedges Important: Wedge sockets do not have a traditional Working Load Limit (WLL). Instead, they have an efficiency rating of 80% based on the catalog strength of XXIP wire rope. This means the strength of the termination is dependent on the rope being used—not a standalone rating—so always reference the wire rope’s published strength when determining capacity.
